If routers broadcast, which theoretically isn’t hard and perhaps some do – it could be privacy issues in that A person could have their location settings turned off of the device – but then have their location broadcast unknowingly by the Wi-Fi. Perhaps that’s already done – but for everyday consumers – there is respect for private IP address (LAN) locations at least. A common threat online is “i’ve tracked where you are by your IP and I’m going to…(some threat)”. Basic cyber bullying. Right now thankfully they can’t, just get to their ISP city which can be spoofed easily.
