Tweens get strange ideas sometimes. They also have a cringey sense of humor and like to troll people so you never can tell what’s true or not.
Maximum cringe effect. If they can convince someone (adults are easy to trick) that their cringey joke is real, all the better.
You don’t even have to KNOW any to see it. Just go to any popular youtuber and look at the comments section below. Mostly 8-12 yr olds being cringy at each other. Lemme give an example, one of the latest favs of my 11 yr old nephew:
I haven’t looked at the comments, but this is the kind of stuff, they enjoy these days for humor. It’s like gross-out humor. “How far can I push myself before I want to throw up?” type of thing.
If most of these kids’ parents had even HALF a clue what’s really going on when they’re doing multiplayer games or youtube, they’d probably smash their phones and ban them from the internet, but thankfully, as was in your time and my time as well, most parents are entirely clueless. Lets the kids figure their own generation out for themselves. so it’s a good thing.
“imagine your feet got blown off and you had to walk on bony nubs” is something I bring up to my nephew sometimes. The wince on his face is priceless.
