YES, in looking back, I’m sure of it. This: “no religion, no anything. Hurt the bible, hurt God. He’s against God” refers to Secularism, which has been standard American policy for a long time.
But the Biden campaign – and me and I think everybody – read it as a personal attack against his religion because it sounded like a personal attack on his religion.
But it was an attack on his public policy which is separation of church and state, which to the radical fundamentalist Christian right, is anathama as the believe that Christianity should be the state religion, 10 commandments and “In God We Trust” in every school, etc.
