The last line can be a little misleading. Being raised without a father does not imply “future rapist”. Many children are abused by their fathers. Being a father doesn’t make you a dad, just as being a mother doesn’t make you a mom.
Statistics in this area are often misused. If 85% of prisoners were raised in homes without the natural father, this does not mean that 85% of people raised without the natural father will become prisoners.
I make a point of this because it’s also sometimes implied that, because there’s abuse that makes criminals, and those criminals had been raised without the natural father, therefore the mothers were abusing the children or were otherwise unsuitable.
It’s also possible that a father that would run off and be irresponsible would have in his genetics an irresponsible child.
Of course I say this with bias: as I was raised by my mother. I’ve heard things like this my whole life, as well as something that would seem exactly opposite: mothers who raise boys cause them to be gay.
If a father is avoiding owning up to his responsibility then the courts need to track him down.
