Congratulations! Thanks to for inviting me to this page. Thank you for the hard work you’ve done and please continue it. It’s a long road to go on so I’ve heard and every milestone is significant. Where you’ve come is significant! Thumbs up from me.
I never got into the political side of youth rights, but I did and do my part in my own way. Back in 1990 when I was 18, i formed and ran Y-RIGHTS – a mailing list on the young Internet, where a lot of future youth rights organizers first found each other and split off to form their own groups later on for their own causes, one of which was the NYRA. Lowering the voting age was one of the ongoing hot topics and I honestly expected it to happen by now. It’s 25 years later.
Children have been born and grown older inbetween the time I did the group and today, and I was SURE this would’ve happened by now. It didn’t. I never thought it would even come close. I’d given up any decent rights of semi-autonomy for people under 18 in the USA. I mean, they even took bank accounts away. But this gives me hope. Keep fighting.
