I wrote a UI for it back in late 2006 / 2007. Used their first API. I mostly ignored Twitter, using it as a SEO link dumping site. Then I used it to dump my Vijnes to (2013-2017). But I never used it the way normal people do. I though it would be dead by 2014. Was surprised and am surprised to see it still running, well, kinda running. but – to answer you: until the latest version of it ,I would use Twitter’s “trending news” to catch up on what’s popular that day in news the last few years.
It’s not as reliable as it used to be so I don’t use it as much as I did the last few years for that.
