They diagnosed me with cerebral palsy. Born at 6 months. Low hopes. Fuck their predictions and thank you early physical/occupational therapy. Not a sign of it outwardly. [internally? yeah but nothing anyone can see]

Brain plasticity is amazing and even when the full potential is reached and it’s not “enough”, it’s still better than a blanket authoritarian unthinking eugenicist / position.

Your lack of imagination shouldn’t condemn millions to automatic death.

Parental choice vs automatic state decision. That’s the diff.

I worked with kids who were at that level. Physical therapy, gradual improvements. Some reach a limit of growth potential.

Are you talking about comatose no brain activity level?

That kind of position makes child molesters look like compassionate saints by comparison.

I’m pro-choice – and that’s the key word. State / cultural pressure is hard enough on mothers as it is. This additional pressure in a choice environment moreso. Make it a costly/difficult choice (removal of standard benefits etc) and it’s another dozens rungs down the ladder for choice.

Well, I’ll have to say thank you because I’m more clear on my position should it come up again . I’ve only heard that take seriously a couple of times, ironically / devil’s advocate hundreds of times, so it was good practice.
