I was 8 years old but I followed this election very closely, like kids might follow Fortnite characters or Amung Us or whatever is today.
I wanted John Anderson. The results of that election shaped my whole political mindset. Look how the country is almost all red there. They didn’t use the colors then.
The only way Democrats got any hold in power in the 90s and 00s was to be the Democrat version of Reagan and kiss a lot of ass.
Unfortunately, the older Democrats in power are still are stung by that election and have not been watching.
I’m stung by it for different reasons and is why I don’t put faith in politics. But it’s still important.

After losing that election, Anderson started FairVote which, among other things, advocates for Instant runoff voting, which we call ranked choice voting and I advocate for in the rare times it comes up in conversation. Usually conversations are binary.
