I wanted to convey my dislike of an often too-simple connectivist construction of consciousness

ok, I think I get the ‘gist’ (to borrow a psychology but not psychiatric term) of what you’re saying.

I bring in the psychiatric because it is easily understood in culture, providing effective parameters to help someone get a focus on what I’m referring to: the experience of experience and the depth and breadth of it, without requiring me to go into too much detail and without coming off making myself sound like I’m something special in the process, because I’m not. At the same time, I wanted to convey my dislike of an often too-simple connectivist construction of consciousness, a, “if we get enough connections, consciousness will arise”, which would be fine if the processes involved were better laid out, rather than just density and high numbers of nodes and edges.
