I think what’s been strange to me as I’m going through all of this (I started seriously looking at this back in April 2013) is I would get hints and bits and pieces.
I would see these mechanisms in artificial intelligence
Then at a different point, I would see it in an old neurological model from the late 1940s.
But then I would see Echoes of it in newer cogsci work
And then I would see things about cybernetics and others about computing
Then I would read things about process oriented philosophies
Then things about physicalism
And of course physics which is my main thing – but I’d be learning about mathematics and trying to understand the origins of infinitesimal calculus
Then later stuff from intuitionistic mathematics
All the while comparing and contrasting with my own thought processes
But my continual critiquing of modeling kept getting in the way
And I’d be side tracked looking at diverse models to see what “felt right” always using my intuition as a guide
But bringing it together has been a whole other thing. I think it’s because I was resisting and testing cybernetic principles (for lack of a better central notion) from many different perspectives – probably. I didn’t have a master plan nor a master question.
