I think part of the reason(and this might seem odd – it’s my own weird thought) – might be the in-group humor.
Same old stale jokes get told for 10-20-30+ years. Politics of the ‘other side’ morphed long ago but the jokes keep ‘one team’s’ knowledge of the ‘other team’ behind a generation+.
One odd examples just yesterday: Someone posted a Jackson Pollack and said, ‘this is what liberals call “art”‘. Do you know *how old* that stale joke it? I was embarrassed for him tbh.
“average person” problem there. You put yourself and people who agree with you in the average person category.
I don’t think that works anymore.
Thought experiment: Let’s suppose cultural marxism has taken over the entire school system from Kindergarten to PhD.
Several generations of people have gone through this system from 5-24.
Or let’s say they made it to high school. 5-18. 12-13 years worth of average education in a cultural Marxist bend.
Would not this then change the characteristic of what the average person entails?
If this is so, and I don’t know if it is, perhaps the new elite becomes the ” “right wing intelligentsia with Libertarian and populist civic nationalist views”.who know better than the average Marxist educated person.
You might, in fact, be the new elite and someone like me, the average.
Ah the nature/nurture thing. Educational psychology is full of a lot of bullshit in this area. They started hard-coding Gardener’s multiple intelligences as if it was some kind of hard-wired fixed trait rather than personality tendencies.
But I think you’re referring to more Sapir-Whorf stuff I think right?
Oh I can’t do Pinker. Loved Language Instinct but when it came to his hard-wired thinking, he blew it for me. But I’ve been in the connectionist / neural network camp since about 1990 so it’s hard to extract me from it.
