I think one of the bigger freedoms for me has been when I allowed myself to not have to try to relate to everybody. There’s been freedom in saying “That person is in a different class than me with an upbringing I don’t know and likely sees the world very differently than I do” – and likewise me, them. Big freedom. Or instead of believing I could imagine what pregnancy was like, just to be honest; I don’t know and can’t imagine, not really. I can only pretend that I can imagine. That sort of thing. Very freeing.
