I swore off of documentaries a long time ago as their power to manipulate my own thinking was too strong. I could see the pattern they tend to use and I’d still get caught up in it.
They start with a hypothetical, followed by a few more and once you’ve swallowed those – and they get those over with quickly so you don’t dwell on them, everything that follows generally ONLY works _if_ those first few premises are true exactly as they said. And yet, they’re nearly always “plausible fictions”. Fictions. And one ends up believing something is absolutely true when it’s just dark fantasy.
