I suppose. I mean I like watching the Spongebob WW2 memes with my nephew – and it’s new to him – but I guess its the level of nerdiness about the era, the roleplaying, etc… feels like a dead meme.

Ppl always want an honorable citizen militia to be the hero. Wish that were so. But looks like basic suiciding.

makes sense to me. Also wish they had better means of disarming ppl… like negotiating skills beyond “make the right hand movements in a specific time frame or you die”

It lost its social meaning a long time ago, at least back to the first school shootings. Serves a legal purpose but for news distribution it just causes confusion. People are dead in the USA. That’s what ppl care about.

Can’t blame the people. They look identical. Ideologies are invisible, gossipy. But shootings look exactly the same. Funerals are the same.

Prob is: there’s too much media saying what’s factual. Alex Jones is popular media / entertainment. Gets taken as gospel. Same with CNN or RT or whatever someone’s chosen favorite media source tells them is so.

There’s no longer “the media” and hasn’t been for a while. There’s left media and right media and ppl pay attn to what they like and not much else.

I like finding local news. They usually have the most to lose in getting it wrong so I think they generally try harder to get things right. Of course if local political bias is involved, it gets hard there too. But generally I look for local.

“Telephone game” way too abused as news moves “up” from there.
