I still don’t know but I’ll have to decide something soon at least as a placeholder.
I have 27 Credits – 24 from 23 yr ago community and 3 I got from a CLEP.
In Florida, AA has not many but a few rules that AS doesn’t have.
AS is considered “for a job” – like a supercharged Certificate.
AA is considered for “BA or above transfer” but it’s still a full degree.
Therefore, one is supposed to declare a major around 30 credits.
Here’s the “transfer pathways” available and there’s a lot:
The idea is that you will finish an AA at the community level and transfer to a BA type school for the rest towards one of those degrees that you chose and they want your electives you use in AA to tie into the BA or BS you are aiming for.
It’s actually a very smart way of doing things. They penalize you for taking “too many electives” – but the penalty is simply paying triple for each credit hour – and their credit hours are really inexpensive here so I’m not worried in that way but there’s plenty of room for “oops” so I’m not that worried.
Double-major is one of a few ways to get around the “excess credits” penalty among others so it’s not a real worry but interesting that it’s there.
SO out of these hundred or two, I’ll probably pick something that doesn’t have a whole lot of prerequisites. I narrowed it down to about a dozen possibilities.
