I figured out how to rotate around the complex plane while going through genealogy connections. It’s a sideways rotation, like a drill that spins around a set of descendants. I don’t have an algebra formula but what I do is I find the furthest most tenuous connections, based on comments like, “You are my 14th cousin 12 times removed’s aunt’s 10 times removed ex-husband’s fourth nephew’s cat”. So, I click on them. “No path found”. I look at the NEXT far off connection. “No path found”. I follow down to the NEXT far off connection: “So and so is your 14th cousin”. Bingo.. It’s all permutations. Rotating around the complex plane is trusting that you’ll rotate BACK into somewhere interesting and new and I’m not let down now that I know how to do it. Like here: Who would think I had a cousin in Malaysia? But I do. The happy comments from white bread Nebraskans and shocked Swedes and pleased Polish and roused Russians on his her profile shows I’m not alone. Furthest off cousin connection yet. And what it took was a sudden intuition of this strange rotation that was going on. Our common ancestor? Flavia Magna (Sabiniani) 460 AD Rome. 49th great-grandmother.
I’m trying a broad “triangulation” using far off cousins with different haplogroups than me (mtDNA). I was tracking H16b, which led me to a 26th Cousin, which led me to a 30th cousin, which led me to Hedwig, which you followed. I am J2a1a1a. It was a total mathematical triangle flip in just a few simple moves My mind is blown, 23rd cousin.
I can’t believe how well this is working! I’m breaking “all the rules” of DNA and genealogy research.
Progress so far in triangulating far off ancestors with mtDNA relatives of cousins.
