I resist the urge but I like that it’s possible to make music using whatever’s lying around.

The Cello is my first and only attempt at a bowed instrument. I also got an accordian online the same way just to see if I could play it. Played it for a while, then sold it (although it was more money and I sold it for less than I paid for). On my ‘one of these days’ list is to go through all of instrument families. I never tackled the flute-type instruments, although I _can_ play bottles, so I imagine it’s learning fingerings and stuff.

Once made my own Bugle out of a trumpet spit, a plastic tube cut to fit, and a funnel. Sounded just like a trumpet to me, and I made tuned wind chimes out of pipes by studying the math behind bells and resonance frequencies, and one string washtub bass using a washtub I bought JUST to make into a washtub bass tongue emoticon

I resist the urge but I like that it’s possible to make music using whatever’s lying around.

Oh, another cool thing to learn is how to play glasses. Finger dipped in vinegar water and playing the rims of glasses and things. Makes eerie sounds and makes people stop dead in their tracks to listen.
