I post this because there’s a recent one floating around basically saying that masks are pretty useless.
Thing is: you work with what you got. And if it helps a little, it’s already helped a lot.

It beats nothing. It saves other people in case you got something.
The more people wear them, the safer it gets for everybody.
—
You have to remember: you’re not in a lab or a hospital. You’re out in public, social distancing already, washing hands, being careful.
So already you’re doing alright. You’re trying not to cough. Other people are trying not to cough as they don’t want to get shot for coughing. So, everybody’s trying.
I saw a neat homemade mask out of a t-shirt, you cut under the arms, wrap it twice around your face. Some put a coffee filter under it. It’s something.

Work with what you got. It’s something. I have a beard and wore a construction one today. It was stupid — anything could get in where my beard is.
But…
I know I was protecting OTHER people _in case_ I had it.
So, for that I’m ok with my decision to do it. It’s helping someone.

Plus, when people see a mask, they back up a few extra feet. Instant social distancing.
