I only learned the term when I was with the Orthodox church.
From their POV, there is a correct practice (Orthopraxis) and correct doctrine (Orthodox) and it is the Orthodox Church that is interpreting Biblical text correctly – as it is through the Church’s understanding. Anybody outside of the Church is engaging in eisegesis.\

Timothy Ware, an English theologian who converted to Orthodoxy and eventually became Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, was originally heavily steeped in Protestant theology and did a lot of Ecumenical work between Orthodox and Catholic and Protestant through the years and it’s likely from one of his writings that I first heard the term “eisegesis”.
