I never study-studied it per se but scripts people live and “i’m ok / you’re ok” and other similar books were on the back of the toilet top when I was a boy (my grandmother was reading them and/or maybe my mother).
So, late elementary / middle school age I read them them a few times. I got the gist of them.
I’ve used the adult/child/parent model to describe situations – at least to myself – and sometimes to others and it seems to hold true much of the time.
Myself, I mostly fall into an adapted child. I can slide into adult or a scolding parent role too when I must.
I too find understanding-another-as-freedom as you do. It allows for CLEAR communication which is the most amazing thing when it happens.
