Ah, you’re staying in the context of the set of cartoon panels.

I never finished the story. I know it through cultural ‘osmosis’. I *might* have seen the cartoon as a kid. Read The Hobbit (I liked the Hobbit). Bored 1/2 way through first book of LOTR. Saw first movie.

Just never got into it. Tolkein was an interesting character. His story I know a little better, and the story of how he wrote the story and why, plus its cultural influence.

I see the three caracatured representations of real people as providing different possible directions for the story.

It was the times. Eugenics was hot stuff so it’s no surprise he might have leanings.

In the context of the story though, you’re right. The three variants of leftest ideologies would have totally wrecked the storyline. They wouldn’t necessarily have worked for … whoever that evil dude was whose name I forgot. [they all seemed keen on wrecking him], but they all showed concerns for the Orcs in some fashion.

But, so long as they were soldiers of evil-dude and it was their job to be soldiers, going to war is a viable option as far as I’m concerned. Soldiers are paid to die.
