I like the word “simplest”. I go backwards from interesting to dull, where the dull is only interesting once the interesting is presented. Here it’s how I got back to pre-calculus (the last straightforward school math that could hold my interest where I didn’t mind the work involved). I preferred programming to math from before pre-Algebra (5th/6th grade when I got my first computer and taught myself BASIC) but I played along with school math through pre-calculus. Once I hit calculus though, I was done. At that point the differences between how calculus does things to how programming does things was too much for me. Give me a subroutine not a standard formula and quit eliminating variables ! I’d had enough of that elimination. Anyway I’ve long since connected the two worlds in many places but not all yet.
