I probably have high self-esteem. I don’t like being down for long. I’m easily knocked off my horse when I get into doing something for someone else and they turn and bite the hand that’s helping but that’s when I pack up and say “ok, all yours now then”. (ok, I don’t really. I just finish up quickly but without the dedication they got for free) But as far as dealing with folks with low self-esteem? I bolster as much as I’m able – and I try to find the ways that work best for them: it’s a challenge. But then if I reach that point where “I’m just about out of gas”, I start chiding and joking to get them out of it and OCCASIONALLY, I get them mad at me. Righteous indignation, while flawed and usually undesirable (imo) _is_ a step up from low-self esteem and is at least on the path away from feeling useless. I’ll only OCCASIONALLY redirect the righteous indignation towards an ‘other’ but I avoid that as that can have disasterous consequences.

Indeed. After all, these are metaphorical and not analogous and can fall apart upon testing. What I’m liking about this approach is that it’s purely electronics and the beginning is a long, detailed and interesting overview of the known cavaets of this approach and what he’s modeling and NOT modeling and why. So I’m ok with going through it.
