I like AOC’s idea. I don’t know why Republicans want free money for a few or why the Democrats want to spread money out among a number of organizations that provide employment.-
Ok. The republicans have it set up where:
IF you make > a certain amount of $, you don’t get a check at all.
If you make between this amount and that amount you get $1000.
If you make under this amount you get $600.
If you make under that low amount or didn’t file anything, you get nothing.
So it’s complicated tiers so that only people they approve of get anything. The poorest get $0.00
We’re not in positions of political power so all we can do is talk about it. I’m tempted to start posting pictures of cats again though. “I l like Coca Cola (this politician), “No, Pepsi’s better (that politician), “I like Dr. Pepper (you monster”… etc
I like simple. Her idea is simple and gets it done today. Closest thing to a free market solution that I’ve seen yet. It’s just releasing tax money that was ours anyway.
It gets tiring because I’m in a no power position talking about things I don’t have any say over, pretending my opinions make any difference.
They don’t. They do in our little talking circles here online.
What I spent money on or who I vote of is hardly a ripple turning into a butterfly effect. It’s just a feather falling on a cloud.
Listening to Donald Trump is a dumb choice. That I agree with, but he’s got 1/3 of the US in his pocket, so a little responsibility on his shoulders would be nice if he’d bear them like a normal leader.
Job growth in the eco-energy has been booming for 10+ years now, growing yearly. Jobs in coal were and are dying even now. Go with growth which is eco. Windmills. Solar. Hydro Etc.
Why support Arts? The economy. The wealthy support the arts. A strong arts supports restaurants and high end shops. High ends shops supports maximum profit for lowest material cost (cheap fabric for thousands because of a fashion name), etc.
It’s total capitalism. Democrats understand capitalism. It’s also why I don’t usually care for democrats because I don’t care for capitalism.
I’m more progressive. Progressives have more in common with free market people. Both are unrealistic but have some common ways.
In the end, I don’t expect politicians of ANY POLITICAL party, or a tiny rep from a small area of NY that gets a lot of press (AOC), to successfully rescue the USA from what’s been coming.
Nor do I expect help personally.
Best I can do is hope they have some sense of priority. HOUSING, FOOD, MEDICINE, ELECTRICITY. Add in INTERNET because it’s become a requirement. Get infrastructure strong.
Stick that capitalism on top of that. Play money games on top of that. But put people first. You want to know what I think govt should do? That’s what govt should do. Not preferred families first. Purdue chicken family shouldn’t get priority over the Udut house or the Henderson house.
