I learned at a young age: “Don’t get involved”. Other people’s problems are their problems. If you try to fix it, you’ll make it worse and be held accountable for the original problem. Stuff like that. It’s probably a product of where and/or when I grew up, I dunno. But it’s the same “life rules” that say: Don’t give money to homeless as they’re probably just scamming. Don’t give to charity as they’re just ripping you off. Grew up in New Jersey, USA in a suburban town not far from New York (as the crow flies – I saw the Twin Towers falling with my own eyes, or at least one anyway). So, I don’t presume to be in charge. If I’m placed in charge, I’ll play that role. Now, there have been times that I *thought* I was supposed to be in charge only to find out that no, “nobody asked you”. World’s weird.
