It amazes me that people still believe in ‘conversion therapy’. I was lucky: When I was 14, I wanted more than the typical cartoony “what’s happening to my body” books. I found “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male” by Kinsey in my public library.

I learned about the whole spectrum of human male sexuality through charts and data and it set in my mind that these are all aspects of normal male sexuality.
I was 14 yrs old then (1986). I’m 44 yr old now (2016).
I understand why some of them are necessarily criminalized. But while the different orientations may not be “average/everyday”, they are normal in the spectrum of male sexuality.
