I lack trust in the current Federal administration. Their cyber security is lax and they voted against improvements. Positions of power voted in whose stated goals are to dismantle their departments. I’ll trust State systems and existing chains of communication.

A name change would help, but I’m not happy with current FEMA pick, not just for this.

But I’m sure the underlying people are faithful and trustworthy. Just not the tops.

that it could be abused by this administration.

I got hit by Hurricane Irma. Eye right over my house but our damages were less than deductible so we were lucky.

FEMA’s neglect in Puerto Rico would certainly not have happened under another administration. Yes, each administration has had failures in emergency response and followthrough: This stuff ain’t easy to get right. But not like what we saw last year.

Well, you got the President, who appoints a Cabinet.
Within that Cabinet is the head of Homeland Security, appointed by the President.
Under Homeland Security, is the head of FEMA, also appointed by the President.

I still feel the sting from Daniel A. Craig”s “almost” appointment as #2 at FEMA.

Absolute loyalty is stressed by the President from all of his appointees. I don’t see any of his appointees that are still there as independent.

I think a Nationwide Alert is a good idea. I just don’t trust the button pushers to always do right.

But maybe they’ll do right. The capability should be there in a real administration. I just REALLY don’t want it abused.
