I know of several parenting-style groups that are probably compatible like freechild and ‘taking children seriously’ but it’s been a while since I’ve explored which groups are active.
I started Y-RIGHTS online back in 1990 which ran ’til early 2002 (long after I stopped being involved) and NYRA was one of the groups that split off from Y-RIGHTS. [their focus was on, well, what you see today, primarily rights of mid-older teenagers and young adults and making changes in the legal system], which was a little more specific than my group was about (which was more general philosophical discussions about the rights of kids and teenagers.
A parenting group also split off from it – “Taking Children Seriously” – as they had a strong libertarian focus (and were talking over the heads of most of the people there) and I showed them how to form their own online mailing list, which they did.
So, I don’t think here’s any reason that you need to stop involvement in any of it. Is NYRA the right place for the discussion? I don’t know. In my case, I asked them (and showed them how) to split off because they were very focused and specific and were almost running in parallel to the general discussion.
But I think you can “ride two horses simultaneously” easily enough. Have discussions here but _also_ see what other groups exist that are more focused to youth rights and parenting for example… and see what you come up with. Share back here.
There’s no reason you can’t try it all and see what works, see how people respond.
