I know. But musicians with precision instruments, precision environmental conditions in controlled spaces, expert performers, can certainly come close to managing non-linear dynamics to the best of human ability.
And I think that deserves some praise, even though it is, ultimately, an impossible feat to do with perfection.
Studio recording does their best to do away with room acoustics altogether. Then they record instruments independently and mix them together afterwards.
It’s a cheat but it works for just the reasons you said.
