I have significant Ukrainian *and* Russian in my genetic background who were later immigrants. But I also have family going back to the 1630s-40s landing on boats from the Great Migration to the USA with significant genetics from Connecticut/New Jersey with common British Isles/Norway background. Going through my genealogy, I have to struggle with placenames often because of regime changes. Same town might be Prussia. Or Russian Empire. Or Poland. Or Czechia or USSR or Ukraine.
