I had a bank account to put the money into. GenY didn’t. Neither does GenZ.

I think when they took away the ability for kids to have their own bank accounts messed up GenY tbh. I’m GenX and I was very lucky. I had a passbook savings acct when I was in the 3rd grade. 12 years old, I walked into my local bank and opened my own checking account. Got a job as a custodian at my local church after school everyday from ages 13-18.

Pisses me off to be honest. You got to 18 years old with no financial experience outside of a credit card if you were lucky, but that’s about it. Adults stole all of the jobs that might have been available for you guys to have and laws that were “protecting kids” (they weren’t) made it worse for y’all.

I don’t blame you guys. The systems failed you.
