I got undocumented workers all around me. Part of the local economy, makes millions in taxes and productivity. Our local sheriffs are ICE deputies and COULD raid and deport but usually don’t anymore, not for like 10 yrs. So the other day, Federal boots come trampling in, all jacked up on steroids and yuri and start shit. I’m super pissed now.

You nailed it. It’s so easy to be indifferent too. Like me, EVEN THOUGH I’ve been writing about the immigrant thing, learning about it, trying to understand the laws, how asylum works and why the USA is breaking its own laws doing this – I always felt kind of “safe”.

First it was: “Florida won’t do the ICE thing. Undocumented is part of our economy”. That’s what i thought.

Then last week a friend dealt with mass raids in Palm Beach County.

Shit.

So, it became, “Well, our Gov is from Naples FL and he’ll try to make sure Fed ICE doesn’t start raiding farming communities”.

Then I saw this yesterday.

Fuck.

Jersey ’til 2002. Naples, FL since. Not the rich part, but the redneck part that nobody talks about. Next town over is Immokalee where most of the undocumented workers live and has a big Indian casino.

Seminole Indians have a reservation there, complete with teepees for the hardcore roughing-it native americans but also trailers and houses too.

They EVEN have their own POLICE, subject to Reservation and NOT US Law, which I think is awesome.

I don’t know what the Zig Zag girls are about though. Sounds suspicious but it’s not my crowd. (casinos that is).
