I go by the face. If the face says, “everybody away from me, I’m cranky”, I’ll sit there because they’ll entertain me with stories about how everything sucks. If the face is neutral, I’ll sit. If the face says, “HEY FRIEND!”… it depends. If it’s a quick glance, ok, friendly. Will be pleasant and non-committal. If lingering? They want to sell me something / desperate to talk / attracted to me and I don’t need the pressure. This is how I evaluate man, woman, child, any ethnicity or skin tone.

I never though about it until you made the post here. I thought about every time I sat next to someone. Bus stops in “bad parts of town”, plane, buses, park benches.

What’s my criteria? Had no idea but now I do.

I’ll stand too unless I have a lot of stuff. Someone else can sit. If I reach a point where I have to sit, I’ll sit.

oh THAT’S a “go ahead, I dare you” face. I won’t sit there.
