I don’t think you can have full autonomy: a lot happened before we were born that continues through our lives that affects us and continues after we die. But within those structures (which can be changed but usually at our levels we ride along) – we can have autonomy, different levels depending on a number of factors. A 2 year old child is less autonomous in that it’s dependent upon adults for continued life. But it’s often more autonomous in not having to follow social graces as much as adults do — but the autonomy (push) is within even if it’s then punished.
