I don’t hate myself. I respect myself and what I represent enough to face up to realities. Denial just leads to bitterness and anger that never ends.

When someone has cancer, you don’t talk about all the other cancers that exist.

We’re not children being caught for doing a naughty thing and then have to blame the neighbor kid.

You’re trying to tell me that I don’t have to take an honest look at history and that I don’t have to take an honest look at the US prison slavery that still is legal in the USA because of the exception clause in the 13th Amendment in the USA.
And maybe I don’t have to. But I am choosing to.
You guys got rid of slavery 10 billion years ago and that’s great.
It still exists in the USA and I also like learning about ALL the parts of history, not just the nice bits.

I don’t feel any guilt about the past. But I am honest about it. Lying about history is a bad thing.

Slavery is legal in the USA.
This means any human rights afforded to them is entirely at the whim of current leadership whoever that might be. And it’s been that way for 150 years.

“Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”
This means:
Slavery and involuntary servitude is legal as punishment for crime.

But you’re in the UK. It’s not your problem. You can go on and on about somebody else in some other far away land and how awful they are as much as you like.
You got your thing sorted out long ago.
