Well, it’s ok. I don’t expect people to give me anything other than what they give me. I believe in taking people as they present themselves and accepting them, as we all come from various backgrounds and carry different sets of assumptions with us, like sets of eyeglasses at different magnifications, reductions, color filters (like sunglasses) and even eyepatches, telescopes and scanning electron microscopes.

So I don’t fault people for bringing what they have to the table, although it’s always nicest to come across someone whose outlooks and sets of assumptions are similar to my own. I like working towards convergence rather than divergence, and I suspect, above all other factors, that is the stuff that helps humanity flourish, when we can retain our uniqueness while also finding common ground.

I’m sure that outlook is also a product of my expectations fostered by culture and experience but I believe in it just the same :)
