I do storytelling and analogizing and keep to the “I” perspective, allowing the listener to make the connections. Works most of the time. Didn’t even realize that’s what I did until one day, I realized, that’s what I did. See? I did it just there. “One day, I realized”. :)

“When I was a boy” are very powerful. Even if someone says, “Nice nostalgia, what’s the point?” they’ve already absorbed the story and it’s 3/4 of the way there. I try not to be evil with it. The stories I tell are true, as much as anything can be considered true.
