I do not understand appeals to original crimes when it comes to treatment in prison by authorities.
You commit the crime. You are put in prison by a jury of your peers and sentenced, hopefully a correct sentence for the crime.
You serve the sentence.
As you serve the sentence in a new society away from main society, the people in charge of your care have no need to abuse you beyond what is acceptable by national and international law.
When you serve your sentence, if it’s not life in prison, you are released in some fashion.
