I disagree – and it took me a long time to accept this. Objects are real; they are emergent properties of a system. Chain mail. Ever make chain mail? Take wire. Make rings. Hook rings together into a sheet. This sheet can repel arrows up to a certain … point as it were. Were you protected from the arrow by the sheet of chain mail? Yes. The protection was not an illusion.
