I didn’t see the other Purge movies but the ads were great memes. This one, which was timed to air JUST before Donald John’s State of the Uniom speech was a great bit of marketing. Turning “Extreme Patriotism” into a horror film isn’t new but the use of 45’s iconic red hat is visually arresting and going by comments so far, his 24/7 variety supporters aren’t happy about a movie mocking his Presidency. Of course there will be a few loony-bin copycats but that goes with every horror film. Will I see it? Probably not but I’ll enjoy critiquing the trailers.

This ad for a new Purge movie was timed to air just before Donald John’s State of the Uniom address tonight. Brilliant marketing, especially the use of the visually arresting red hat. Already a number of “always-on” Trump supporters are upset at a movie making a mockery of 45’s presidency.

HILL: Using “Extreme Patriotism” in a horror genre isn’t new and outside of a few expected loony-bin copycats and the usual Internet Tough Guy talk, it is safe to make a movie of this nature because such a thing as “The Purge” (12 hours of unlawfulness lawfully allowed) cannot happen in a civilized society, despite the dreams of the immature and the sociopaths.
