I bring that up (even though that’s a mathematical model) because I’d read something about oxytocin and heterophilic vs homophilic friendships. I _think_ it was that lower oxytocin levels led to more heterophilic friendships and higher oxytocin levels led to more homophilic friendships. I’ve also read heterophilic is good for diversity which can lead to cooperation and community stability but that homophilic is good when a singular goal is pursued and full cooperation among followers is needed.

I’ve always sought out diversity in people; tending to be adverse to easy cooperation. Then again, this could simply be a matter of seeking out similars; those who also like differences and the challenges thereof.
