I believe that God can be apprehended by the senses though. It would be, in the Christian context, considered the Holy Spirit. In the Mystical religions, it might be given other names. It’s somewhat of an simultaneous overwhelming of experience and negation of sensory experience, very powerful.
This isn’t to say I’m a believer. I believe a similar experience can be achieved when someone who is trained in mathematics experiences an “Elegant Formula” or someone trained in Logic experienced a Logical Argument that is profound.
When you’ve experienced one of them, you’ve experienced all of them. The core experience is the same. The manner of getting there is different. It’s a sensory/cognitive process. How we frame it in language, who/what we give credit to for it, well, that’s different of course.
