I asked chatGPT to write something in Usenet style and it did – and it looked like my writing – on a good day anyway. I asked if it had another name. It does: netiquette. I never thought of it as a style before.
“Yes, Usenet-style writing is often referred to as “netiquette” or “Internet etiquette,” which refers to the informal rules and norms of online communication that have developed over time on Usenet, email, forums, and other online platforms. The term “netiquette” combines “network” and “etiquette” and is a way to describe the accepted customs of online behavior, such as using proper grammar and punctuation, avoiding all-caps messages, and being respectful of others’ opinions.”
