I am always looking for the rule that applies. if I don’t find the rule, I make up the rule. Then i apply the rule. i keep applying the rule for a while even after it stops working because it’s the rule that should apply. i then try to make the situation fit the rule.
i have no way to throw out the rule. i can make a new rule that says that the rule does not always work. Then at least I still have the rule that could apply.
At that point I can make up the rule that applies and the process can repeat. This makes for a lot of rules that do not always work or are always wrong along with rules that always seem to work. But they can lose their always status quickly and usually do. So my goal is the rule that is true enough such that i don’t have to reach for the alternative rule or write another rule often.
