I always wondered, “WHAT DO I WANNA BE WHEN i GROW UP?”

I always wondered, “WHAT DO I WANNA BE WHEN i GROW UP?”

and I thought about all of the roles I envisioned:

Psychologist
Scientist
Middle School Teacher (Special Needs – both Slow and Gifted Learners)
[which came up #1 on a long career test I took]
Coach
Professor
Kindergarten Teacher
Counsellor
Minister/Priest/Rabbi
Self-help guru
etc.

All of these things and versions of them always came up on career tests.

Yet, my ‘stuff I do to make money’ has always been different: mostly stuff with computers, which I happen to be excellent with. Stick me on one, I’ll figure out what to do. Programming, fixing, teaching, whatever. Doesn’t matter. Give me a mess of data and I’ll make it nice for you, automated, whatever.

One day I noticed how I talked to people, online and off.

I looked at the way I behaved. What is important to me. What ROLES did I perform.

and I realized:

I HAVE BECOME EVERYTHING I DREAMED OF AND DIDN’T REALIZE IT.

And I’m still becoming. I WAS DOING MY REAL WORK ALL ALONG.

There’s even more things I could add to “What do I wanna do with my life” and yet so far, I’m achieved them all of them. Still achieving. Still growing. Never stopping.

I achieved my dreams the moment I conceived of them. The rest was details.

The secret to happiness is changing the context or removing it altogether. Once you learn how to manage the context you view things from within, and how to modify the context, everything is possible.
