Last bit on this topic from me – sorry for the pinging:
(I always have too much to say when these things come up in forums – INFP)
Ultimately, I lean on the side of “accept everywhere, even the assholes” for the most part – but as my own personal choice at a member level – not one I’d impose on others.
Were I an administrator, I’d look for repeating negative patterns are actively PREVENTING other forms of communication from growing, as groups tend to fall to the lowest common denominators of the worst members, not of the best or the average.
So it becomes a shitshow of the average-worst of the worst members vs everybody deciding how to react to it:
by laughing,
debating,
not liking,
members attacking members for not laughing
booted out (in this case, because Reporting = ban),
leaving by choice.
That doesn’t mean I’d do anything about it. But I’d at least have an honest assessment of the group’s health.
(group admin is a pain in the ass though – it’s why I haven’t done it for a while (and don’t wanna). It’s hard to admin. If it’s easy to admin, you’re not admining, just an elite audience)
