I agree that time limits for exams are ridiculous. Retrieval time should not be in a test for knowledge acquisition. You know it or you don’t. The access time of the conscious brain should not be part of the test. Some intelligent colleges and younger schools have abandoned testing time limits. Students should not feel like a tube of toothpaste being squeezed.

(I also am a good “test taker”. I time challenge myself and enjoy being the first to finish. So for me, time limits make it fun and exciting.

But I’d still try to finish quickly even with no time limits just for my own satisfaction)

Fact is, test scores increased. Abilities to do the work are there. Doesn’t sound like a biological distinction.
If you get your politics out of the classroom, maybe things can improve.
