“hyperfocus” was mentioned in the middle of a book I was randomly flipping through about kids with cognitive issues and their stories. As soon as I saw the word “hyperfocus” I knew that was the concept I was missing.
I still don’t have a formal diagnosis. No access to proper healthcare so I’ve been learning as I go through research, trying to match up self-observation with symptoms.
The ‘clincher’ was finding out about the “preterm phenotype”.
I was born at 6.5 months, in the “extremely low weight” category. Apparently babies born that small, all over the world, end up with a strikingly similar set of presentations:
and one other thing I’m forgetting. So I couldn’t deny it anymore. Had to be it as it was such a small exclusive club, the statistics moved me into agreement.
