Human intelligence has the same capabilities it had 80,000 years ago. Engineers are generally deliberate; both now and likely in pre-historic times. I have no reason to believe they were anything but cautious and careful and deliberate in their construction techniques. Those stones you see were not found; they were crafted to the shapes you see.
