http://waon.sourceforge.net Here it is. I’ve been playing with it for a few years, done some fun things with. First thing I did is make a piano speak my voice.

Oh, I can make it simpler. I have another method I use for pre-processing. But March 2015, I was happy to be able to do this. and I refined it since.

About a year or so ago, I discovered ARSS which converts WAV to BMP. and back again.

What I did with that is take the BMP and turn into a BINARY BMP, which stripped away all the harmonics, leaving only the fundamentals.

Then, when I convert it to MIDI, what’s left is a decent simplification.

Perfect? No. But I do it for fun.

I’m sure there’s a way to skip the “convert to bmp” and back again part, but what I love about that is it makes simplification a matter of image manipulation, and our tools for image manipulation cover a different range than that of audio manipulation.

Yeah, I was able to duplicate some of melodyne’s effects using these techniques. There’s also a plugin for another audio editor that can do it.. lemme find a link.

=[===

It’s the same technique as waon. Just have to get everything tweaked right. Melodyne is also a fail if your source is messy.

This has a plugin called “Chordino” which does a real-time identification of chords and plays it via Midi. I *think* it was based on a VAMP… hang on.

Awesome — I’m a fan of any project that stretches capabilities. I try to do an “impossible thing” daily. I don’t always manage to but I try. Something I never did before or something in a way I never did it before, some combination I never tried, etc. It’s always a little painful but that’s the stretching.

Here’s the VAMP plugin for the midi auto-chord from wav. I don’t have a capability to do VAMP things. I don’t have any real music making set up on here. Just stuff cobbled together.

Here’s the man behind this branch of stuff:

ah, I thought you’d mentioned an interest in real-time transcription. Well, I’m interested in real time transcription so it wasn’t a waste of research on my part

Real-time wav to midi stuff is coming out which I’m happy to see. It’s one of those “it’s about time” things so I’m glad.

called it “wav to midi” as shorthand for “pressure wave sampling to MIDI”. But I know that .wav is also a file format. My mistake.

My ancient laptop is Win7, so I don’t meet the
MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or later
Windows 8 (64-bit) or later

requirements. But maybe you can. Might not be the “it”. Just doing what I can.
